Troubleshooting
Warnings during installation, no sound, interrupted downloads, and how to report a problem.
Windows: the SmartScreen warning
The warning appears because the application has not yet been downloaded widely, not because of a problem. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The authenticity of a file can be checked against the SHA-256 checksum list in the Download section.
macOS: the application cannot be opened
The application is signed and notarized and should open without further steps. If it does not, right-click the application icon and choose Open. Intel Macs are not yet supported.
Linux: the file cannot be run
Give the file permission to run (right-click → Properties, or chmod +x). If a message mentions FUSE, run the file with the parameter --appimage-extract-and-run, or install the fuse or libfuse2 package of your distribution.
No sound
- Make sure a reciter has been downloaded and chosen (Recitation → Downloaded). If none has, the Play button shows an explanation.
- On Linux, the application uses PulseAudio or PipeWire (through pipewire-pulse), as ordinary desktop applications do. Check the system's sound settings and the application's volume.
- Reciters with one file per surah (mp3quran.net) require timing data for each ayah. A surah without timing data is skipped, and the application says so.
An interrupted recitation download
Open Recitation → Other reciters and choose Download again. The download resumes from what is already present rather than starting over. The number of files downloaded at once adapts to the connection.
Returning to the initial state
Close the application and delete the data folder (see Getting started). Downloaded recitations are removed with it if the audio/ folder is deleted.
Reporting a problem
Send an email to the address at the bottom of this page. State your operating system, the application version (Info → Version), and the steps that lead to the problem.
